Thank you :) I’m sorry it’s taken so long to reply. Life has been crazy lately! But while I’ve been busy, I tried to think of ideas for you to use. I came up with a few. Hopefully you like them!
I have similar hair. It’s thick and curly and kind of ridiculous! I’ll first tell you what I do with my own hair.
I usually let it air dry. I’ll put some product in- After Party by TIGI, Moroccan Oil, Sealed Ends by Schwarzkopf, and sometimes Super Skinny by Paul Mitchell.
Then I either A) let it air dry if I have time. Or B) blow dry my hair about 70-80% of the way and let it air dry the rest.
Then, I section out my hair and spray each section with a thermal spray (if you use Schwarzkopf products, you don’t need thermal spray. It has thermal protectant in it already.) If you don’t use their products, use any thermal spray. Also, spray the section with hair spray.
Use a small barrel curling iron. I’ve found that my curls fall out quickly if I use a big iron. Take sections the size of the barrel width, and curl. When you release the iron, don’t touch the curls. Let them cool and set. After you’ve completed the section, spray with more hairspray.
Continue with the rest of the head until you get to the crown.
If your hair is like mine, it’s pretty wavy towards the scalp. So in order to create a smooth, polished appearance, take your flat iron, and flat iron from the scalp to about midstrand. Then use the curling iron to curl the ends.
For this whole process, it only works if you don’t flat iron before curling. You want the strand to be as close to natural as possible so you get the best hold.
For the no heat method, just make sure your hair is only DAMP when you roll it into the sock. Otherwise it won’t be completely dry and it’ll fall out more quickly.
You’ll just have to make hairspray your new best friend. There are all sorts of levels of hold. I use different levels of hold for different styling techniques, but for something like this, you could use Freeze by Schwarzkopf. It’s about the best, strongest hold out there.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions! Let me know how the curls turn out!
