I have pretty fair skin, and have tried to make it work for me my whole life. But…now I’m getting tired of it, and want some color!!
Now, skin cancer is super high in my family, so I’d like to stay away from beds if possible- but I still want to be able to swim in the summer!! And there are just so many choices as far as spray tans, self tanner, DIY tanner, etc. I need something that will last and not look orange!
Anyone have any suggestions? Any advice, suggestions, tips or comments would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!!

Hi!! Welcome! :)
And I LOVE permanent straightening. But be careful of what ones you choose. Brazilian Blowouts have formaldehyde in them- the stuff used to embalm people!
I use a “keratin” straightening treatment. Most salons are getting on board with those because they are completely safe for your hair. They just blast a bunch of keratin into your cuticle basically. Essentially- it’s just laminating your hair- in a healthy way :)
I got mine done ONCE last year, and normally it stays for about 5 months before wearing off. Mine ended up lasting that long, and it also helped control the frizz even AFTER. It’s been over a year now, and my curls are awesome and controlled- versus looking like a frizzy poodle!
Hope this helps! Just call around to salons in your area and see if they offer keratin treatments. I used GK Hair Taming System. It was awesome.
Just as a disclaimer though- the price is a little hefty at first. But when you do the breakdown, it ends up being about $30/mo or $1 a day. Not too bad :) Totally worth it.
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions!

Use deep conditioners!! That will help a ton- also you can use moisturizing shampoos and conditioners. Make sure you’re using product after every time you want your hair- your hair needs it!!

I’m not familiar with that….I’m sorry! If you have a picture of it- feel free to submit it and I’ll be glad to take a look and let you know!

I would say to use a shade lighter than your natural skin tone/ foundation as possible. And use it sparingly- you don’t want it to look thick and cakey. Try putting moisturizer on there beforehand and then just dot it on with your fingertips. Make sure to use a light loose powder to set it for the day and you’ll be good to go!

Hi!
Okay..well sometimes hair gets dried out from the bleach used to do the ombre- so that would be my first guess as to what happened. Hair is very strange when it comes to color! If I were you, I would get a deep conditioner- or a hair mask. Those will pack moisture into your hair and help your hair lay down better. If that STILL doesn’t help, I would go to a different hair stylist and tell them what’s going on. You’ll probably need some layering and some texturizing to get it to lay down.
My guess is that the color/bleach used for your ombre combined with your layers possibly growing out/split ends forming, your hair just didn’t react well. Hopefully with a few different processes, we’ll get your hair back to being smooth and healthy!
I hope this helps! Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help you!

Well, the hard part about changing your hair color after you’ve gone dark- is that you’ll have to get hilights to go lighter. I have hazel eyes as well, and after coloring my hair several colors- as well as many clients with hazel eyes- I think a rich medium brown brings out the colors of your eyes, as well as your skin tone the best.
I like coloring my hair a medium brown, and then putting some caramel highlights right in my crown area to brighten up my face.
If you want to go blonde though- you’ll need to get a few series of hilights. Just know that you won’t go completely blonde after one session. You’ll need to get them done a few times.
Without looking at you, I can’t say for sure what would look the best for you, but this is my best guess!

Well I don’t live in that area, nor have I visited recently, so unfortunately I don’t know exactly what hairstyle you’re referring to. However, the best way to find a hairstylist to cut your hair the way you want would be to do some research in your area. Most hairstylists have portfolios which are usually added to the website. Or if there is a salon you’ve heard good things about, but you want to make sure they’ll do what you want, you can always do a free consultation with the stylist. That way you’ll be able to walk through what you want- oh and don’t be afraid to bring pictures. If you don’t feel comfortable with what the stylist has in mind, or you think you have differing ideas, you can always go to someone else.
That’s my best advice for you! Hope it helps! Let me know if you have any other questions :)

Well thank you for following me! I really appreciate it :)
So as far as your split ends, I wouldn’t trim anything yourself. I DO hair, and I only feel comfortable cutting my own bangs, and maybe trimming a few split ends up front- but I use actual shears, which are much sharper than house scissors.
If I were you, just get trims at a salon every 6-8 weeks. You can find salons that offer inexpensive haircuts, and it will keep your hair much healthier.
As far as having thicker hair, and helping it grow faster- your hair will LOOK thicker if you keep your hair trimmed like I suggested. The more split ends you have, the more “straggly” your hair looks. Trust me :)
You could also take Biotin pills. It helps nourish your hair, and also will help it grow. It is natural, and is just a vitamin, so you have nothing to worry about :) I know MANY people- especially hairstylists- who swear by it.
I hope this helps answer your questions! Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with! :)

Unfortunately, I can’t see the picture you’re asking about. Can you describe it, or send me the length please, darling?
